The PADI Rescue Diver course is an important step in the progress and experience of a diver. It teaches you to increase your awareness of other divers, improves your reaction skills, and significantly boosts your self-confidence, whether it involves dealing with a simple case of helping someone or more complicated emergency situations. The Rescue Diver course, highly appreciated, provides the physical and mental preparation essential to get you ready to prevent, anticipate, and, if necessary, handle any diving accident. Knowing effective techniques of rescue and first aid, you will also have an increased sense of security when you dive.
The course consists of three main parts: The development of theoretical knowledge based on personal study; training sessions dedicated to life saving developing specific new techniques; and rescue scenarios in a natural environment that simulate diving incidents. During this course, you will learn the principles and techniques that you will need to avoid, anticipate, and handle diving emergencies, especially thanks to your self-sufficiency, the recognition of diver stress, or equipment problems. You will learn to evaluate the situation and correctly react in administering first aid and applying the life saving and aid procedures on conscious or unconscious victims on the surface as well as underwater. A written exam is the final step of the course.
With the Rescue Diver certificate, you open the door to a PADI career: The next step is the Divemaster course, the first professional level of PADI. The Rescue Diver certificate allows you to undertake new Specialties and to attain the level of PADI Master Scuba Diver, the highest level for a recreational diver.
Prerequisites: - Being certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent - Having the EFR certificate or equivalent (training in CPR, primary and secondary aid)
